I'm really happy with how this watercolour painting turned out.
I was asked to paint a Bluejay bird a long time ago, and I finally got around to it!
First I copied a photograph in freehand pencil. Then I started adding colour layers. First came the teal-blue (on the tail feathers, for example). Then the bright blues. After that were the pale grey (underbelly) and dark blue shades (only here and there). Finally, the black detail went over the top. While the little feet were drying, I added three browns and a grey to the tree stump, and then came back to the feet to add some pale grey scale effect.
All in all, such good fun!
